Free-of-charge pop-up beach swimming schools in summer
The free-of-charge pop-up swimming schools in the metropolitan area over the winter break were wildly popular. Hundreds of children and adults who could not swim participated in the classes all over the Helsinki Metropolitan Area – courageously and in a safe and happy atmosphere.
In summer 2025, the swimming school scheme will be expanded to include new opportunities, such as the four-time free-of-charge swimming course. Similarly to the swimming in the winter break, the free-of-charge pop-up swimming school in the summer will be provided in collaboration by FitPit Oy, the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen and the municipality of Kirkkonummi as well as the Finnish Swimming Teaching and Lifesaving Federation (SUH).
The objective is to make swimming skills accessible, safe and inspiring – to everyone.
Pop-up swimming schools on beaches in Helsinki in the summer
The summer 2025 pop-up swimming schools will be held in the following locations in Helsinki from early June to August:
- Aurinkolahti beach
- Hietaranta beach
- Palettilampi beach
This summer, a free-of-charge four-time swimming course, allowing for better opportunities to learn, will be introduced alongside the one-time pop-up swimming schools. This is a significant leap in the promotion of swimming skills and allows the participants to learn better.
The ability to swim is not only a safety issue – it also fosters joy, confidence and community spirit. Pop-up swimming schools make all this possible for those who are otherwise unable to swim regularly.
Come along – enrolment has started!
The swimming schools are free of charge and aimed at children without swimming skills. Teaching is provided in small groups under the instruction of experienced swimming teachers.
