The vision is the future direction of City of Helsinki’s Sports Services. The vision steers the choices and activities of the sports services.

Why do City of Helsinki’s Sports Services need a vision?

The approximately 500 employees at City of Helsinki’s Sports Services believe in physical activity. These employees see how physical activity gives us more resources in our daily lives and creates connections to both nature and other people. The residents of Helsinki keep active to stay healthy and in good shape. Without physical activity and sports, we would miss out on many feelings and experiences. Physical activity helps make Helsinki our home. Each and every resident of Helsinki must have the opportunity to stay active regardless of their age, means, residence or other factors.

Vision for City of Helsinki’s Sports Services 2024–2033

Vision: Helsinki is known for physical activity.
Mission: We promote and facilitate physical activity, outdoor activity, sports and physically active daily life.

Our goals for realising the vision:
– Physical activity is the most popular hobby in Helsinki.
– Helsinki has the most accessible and diverse network of sports and outdoor recreation sites.
– Helsinki is an attractive and interesting city full of physical activity.
– Helsinki encourages its residents to stay active in their daily life.

Our means to succeed in our goals:
– We have skilled employees who feel well.
– We employ knowledge-based management and planned operations.
– Our operations are based on equality.
– Our operations are exemplary in terms of responsibility.
– We achieve more and we are more than the sum of our parts by combining our expertise and working together with our partners.

The objectives of the vision are made tangible by executing approximately twenty measures, most of which are under way or carried out as part of the daily work of our employees.
