Allocation criteria
The Sports Services are responsible for the allocation of school gym reservations, in accordance with the allocation criteria specified by the Sports Committee (05/11 April 2017)
The regular and individual reservations of the Sports Services facilities and are allocated in the following order based on quotas:
Weekdays 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Services and projects by the City’s Culture and Leisure Division
- Public reservations
- Physical education schools in Helsinki and the Sports Academy of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area
- Other schools, day-care centres and pensioner groups in Helsinki
- Other users
Weekdays from 4 p.m. and weekends
- Services and projects by the City’s Culture and Leisure Division
- Public reservations
- Helsinki-based sports clubs, sports youth work associations and communities organising basic education in the arts in accordance with the Act and Decree on Basic Education in the Arts and the curriculum criteria issued by the National Board of Education
- children and young people
- adults
- Other communities, companies and private persons in Helsinki
The allocation of regular reservations is based on the following order of priority within each user group
- Priority is given to activities for children and young people
- In reservations by users, activities for children and young people are placed in the early evening hours and activities for adults are placed in the end of the evening
- Nature and extent of the activities, the number of active users
- Taking into account, as far as possible, the requirements of different sports and forms of exercise and different levels of competition activities
- Supporting diverse sporting opportunities
- Supporting civic activity in sports
- Increasing health-enhancing physical activity and reducing physical inactivity
- Locality, proximity to the sports venue
Individual reservations (matches, competitions, events and individual practice) are allocated in the following order:
- Major events and events held in cooperation with the Sports Department
- Matches, competitions and tournaments by league
- Club events (tournaments and competitions)
- School competitions and matches
- Sports events by companies, other organisations and private persons in Helsinki
- Other events
The regular and individual reservations are allocated by the Sports division.
The Sports division has the right to cancel regular and individual reservations for justified reasons.
User group-specific quotas are specified by the Sports division, in accordance with the strategic policies.
The regular and individual reservations of the City of Helsinki school gyms are allocated in the following order based on quotas:
