Artificial ice fields
There are 10 city-run artificial ice fields in Helsinki with free public skating shifts. The fields are opened annually in November or December, depending on weather conditions. Current information on the condition of the ice is available at ulkoliikunta.fi/en.

Artificial ice season 2024–25
Helsinki’s 2024 outdoor skating season will open for public skating on Brahenkenttä on Monday 18 November. Brahenkenttä has public skating every day of the week, both in the morning and in the afternoon or evening.
In this winter season too, all public shifts of Helsinki’s artificial ice fields are free of charge. The ice-skating season on Brahenkenttä will remain open, depending on weather conditions, until mid-March 2025. Other artificial ice fields will be opened gradually and according to weather conditions during November and December, and their season is expected to end by the end of February 2025.
The artificial ice field in Oulunkylä is closed during this period due to renovation. According to the current schedule, the artificial ice field in Oulunkylä will available for skating again in the winter season 2025–2026.
