Liikuntaluotsi exercise instructors

Liikuntaluotsi is a volunteer who acts as a peer instructor in a senior workout group. The content of a group led by a Liikuntaluotsi may vary depending on the volunteer’s own motives, skills and interests. Liikuntaluotsi instructors may guide, for example, a walking or a Nordic walking group, chair exercise, outdoor games or outdoor gym workouts. Liikuntaluotsi instructors operate, for example, in the City of Helsinki’s senior and service centres, regional sports or community centres’ operations.

Who is the training for?

  • For everyone interested in volunteering and peer counselling in sports

What does the training provide?

  • Basic skills for working as a voluntary peer instructor in seniors’ sports groups
  • Information on the impacts of physical activity and recommendations for physical activity, the basics of physical activity guidance for senior citizens and strength and balance training for senior citizens
  • Ideas and tips for planning and implementing the content of sports groups

Kannelmäki

Munkkiniemi

  • Wed 4 October and Wed 11 October 2023 at 12 noon–4 p.m. (two parts), enrolment by 28 September 2023
  • Munkkiniemi Service Centre (Laajalahdentie 30)

The training is free of charge and includes two days of training. The training is suitable for people of all ages. No previous experience of physical activity guidance or volunteering is required. The most important thing is an interest in physical activity and working out and the desire to encourage others to move as well. You, too, will get the opportunity to work out with a group of great people! In addition to theoretical knowledge, the training includes practical training.

Participating in the training does not require a commitment to becoming an instructor.
