City of Helsinki swimming halls: Jakomäki, Pirkkola, Itäkeskus and Yrjönkatu (closed for renovation 1/2024-12/2025) and the Swimming Stadium and Kumpula outdoor swimming pools

For the sake of general comfort, it is good to know what kind of basic rules we have in place to ensure a pleasant experience for both ourselves and others.

Hygiene

  • Always wash yourself without swimwear before entering a pool. You must also wash your hair or wear a swimming cap. If you have long hair, keep it tied up while swimming. Leave your swimwear in the washroom when going to the sauna. You can wear a towel in the sauna. You are not allowed to shave body hair, dye or cut your hair, do manicures or pedicures or engage in similar activities at our facilities.
  • Using a workout towel is recommended when participating in group exercise and exercising at the gym. Wipe the gym equipment and any other equipment that you use after use.

Age limits for different services

  • Children under the age of 10 and children who cannot swim will not be admitted to a swimming hall or pool unless accompanied by someone over the age of 15 and able to swim. Girls and boys over the age of 7 must use their respective changing rooms.
  • Swimming in big pools and diving pools requires that you are able to swim for at least 25 metres.
  • The age limit for the gym is 15 years. Small children are not allowed at the gym.

Rules of conduct

  • Focus on yourself, take other customers into consideration and also give others the chance to have a good experience. Respect everyone’s physical integrity, both in the way you talk and the way you act. Sexual behaviour and harassment are prohibited at the swimming hall. Respect people’s diversity.
  • Swimming pool staff have the right to remove intoxicated or otherwise disruptive persons. If you notice a person acting suspiciously or disruptively, please report them to the staff.
  • Any instructions issued by the staff regarding order, safety and other matters must be obeyed at all times. A person or community who violates these rules and regulations or other regulations can be ordered to leave the sports facility and be banned from sports facilities for a fixed period of time.
